The Potter
After 10 years of secretarial job, I decided in 1999 to become a ceramic decorator, to paint and draw on ceramic tiles, make nice ceramic pictures like the ones I discovered in Salernes, visited at the time I just wanted to decorate my kitchen with nice colors and materials. My interest for ceramic was then an evidence, a natural choice.
In 1999/2000, I passed a ceramic decorator degree (CAP) in Varages school (extension of Aubagne school).
In 2001, I left for the CNIFOP, in Nièvre (58), for 6 months of learning high and low temperatures enamels. This is where I discovered the never ending wealth of enamels, precious robe of my future productions.
In 2002, with the SEMA, I learn pottery with Maritza VILLEGAS, at her workshop in Beaumont de Pertuis. She taught me how to use the potter wheel, and it's at her place a new direction of my future activity became an evidence : I would not be decorator, but potter. Meeting clay, its softness, its strength, its shape that comes out of nowhere. That was a moment of surprise, simple happiness, where I just felt alive, in peace with myself.
Still in 2002, creation of the Art’Hemis association, with a mosaicist friend, to organize fairs and exhibitions of craftsmans and artists. Dissolution of the association in 2005.
In 2003, creation of my own free artist workshop, setup of my production in Saint Paul Lez Durance.
Since 2005, I give visual arts lessons for kids, drawings and paintings for adults. I also give adult pottery lessons with the APOAES association in Saint Paul Lez Durance.
In 2009, I’m back at my pottery activity, full time !
You are welcome in Saint Paul Lez Durance to discover my workshop and share your passion for ceramic with me during courses or simple discussions.
